The APR18650M1A from A123 Systems is a single cell (3.3V – 1100mAh) of LiFePO4 chemistry weighing 39g offering long cycle life, high-resilience and fast-charge operation. Each cell measures 18mm x 65mm. For full details please refer to the technical specification sheet below.
These are dev-kit cells, complete with solder tabs supporting a maximum of 30A discharge.
Handling Precautions
– Do not short circuit. These cells are capable of very high discharge currents.
– Do not rotate the negative tab (cap) relative to the can as this can cause internal cell damage.
– NB: The can is the positive terminal and the cap is the negative terminal (Polarity is clearly marked on each cell)
When joining cells together
These cells are shipped at 50% SOC (State of charge). All cells to be joined together within the same string must be at the same capacity. If not the string will be unbalanced, which can cause cell damage or reduction in capacity. If the SOC is unknown, it is recommended to fully charge each cell to 100% SOC before building them into a string.
The maximum recommended cell temperature is 60°C. Do not allow cells to exceed this temperature during charge, discharge or storage.
The allowable storage temperature is -50°C to +50°C.
