Genuine A123 LiFePO4 2-cell 6.6V battery pack, with JST-XH balance connector, genuine Deans Ultra connector and separate JR connector lead. Built from genuine A-grade A123 cells. These packs are made from the new A123 M1B cells which have a slightly higher capacity of 2500mAh compared to the old 2300mAh.
A123 LiFePO4 battery packs make great fast-charge receiver batteries and hold their charge superbly. Please check whether your receiver and servo's will require a voltage regulator before using the pack to power your receiver and servos. A123 batteries offer excellent voltage stability under load, lending themselves very well to airframes with high servo loads.
Fast charge is possible using A123/LiFePO4 compatible chargers such as the Ultramat 16S. Please do not attempt to fast charge A123 battery packs using the balance connector alone, as the balancing wires are not generally suitable for currents above 1A. The maximum charge voltage per cell for these A123 cells is 3.6V per cell (7.2V total)
A123 batteries have a very flat discharge curve and therefore using the voltage to check remaining capacity is not reliable. We suggest to fully charge and then after first use, re-charge and monitor the number of mAh put back into the pack to develop an understanding of how many flights you can have between recharges. For 50cc models, it is normally possible to have at least 4 flights comfortably before a recharge is required – you can then recharge at up to 10A and be ready to go again within 20 minutes!
Nominal pack voltage: 6.6V (3.3V per cell)
Fully-charged pack voltage: 7.2V (3.6V per cell)
Recommended cut-off voltage: 5V (2.5V per cell)
Minimum voltage: 4.0V (2.0V per cell)
If swapping the Deans Ultra plug on this pack for another type of connector, remove the existing plug by cutting one wire at a time, to avoid shorting the pack. Or de-solder the existing Deans Plug carefully after cutting the heat-shrink. Alternatively, use one of the robust PowerBox Systems™ adaptors: -
Do not charge above 7.2V and always use A123/LiFePO4 compatible chargers.
