The Multiplex Merlin is a fantastic little model capable of the kind of performance expected of larger models. The diminutive size of the Merlin with its 30" wingspan and overall flying weight of not more than 300g means you can take it with you almost anywhere and enjoy superb performance from the slope or a flat field with graceful soaring or burning up and down the slope with power assistance.
Unlike many models of this ilk, the Merlin features a hatch on the underside for simple battery access, so you can land and disconnect the battery quickly and easily or be ready to fly from a fresh pack quickly, without removing the wings.
Consdering its size the Merlin copes well in windy conditions and offers a very wide performance envelope.
The Merlin can be flown as a pure glider with an appropriate receiver battery and switch-harness or as a powered model with the appropriate power system such as the tuning power set from Multiplex and a 3-cell Li-Po battery of around 450mAh.
Four servos are required and the HS-55 or similar 9g servo (Equivalent to the MPX Nano-S) is the ideal choice for all surfaces.
